Just 14 more sleeps to Christmas. . . doesn’t time fly!
Today my girls and I are in the kitchen rocking out to Christmas tunes while baking.
It’s one of our Christmas traditions. . .
But this year it has a sad twist. . . my big girl, The Princess’ is moving away from home tomorrow.
It will be our last time hanging out in the kitchen together for awhile.
My first little birdie to fly the nest. . . and not just local. . . she’s moving over 600 kilometres away to start her new ‘grown up’ life as an university student and self supporting adult. Eighteen seems too young.
She doesn’t know this yet. . . but the yummy Mint Slice Balls we made today are actually one of her favourites and I’ll be popping them in the car as she leaves in the morning. . . a little chocolate ‘happy fix’ to help her on her way.
The rest will be gifts. . . given in our handmade packaging. . . with a vintage twist.
I especially like to give baked gifts to those who have a sweet tooth, but don’t bake themselves. These gifts are always appreciated. . . and I’d like to think that a gift made by hand and with love, is nicer than a mass produced store bought item.
Who knew the humble egg carton could be so pretty with just a coat of paint and a pretty vintage graphic?
My Vintage Bird Egg Carton graphic is available for you to download HERE.
I printed mine on matt photo paper twice. . . one for the front of the carton and one for inside. You may need to round the corners on your graphic printout, depending on your egg carton.
I decorated mine with a little German Glass glitter on the snow around the birds and by adding pretty cream lace and ribbon.
I know someone will ask me for the recipe for the Mint Slice Balls. . . so if you pop over to here, you’ll see my now infamous super easy (cheats) cake pop recipe.
They are quick to make and very easy to EAT!!
I’m sharing my pretty egg carton packaging and Mint Slice truffles at this week’s link parties and with these friends: French Country Cottage, The Vintage Farmhouse, 36th Avenue, Clean and Scentsible, Live Laugh Rowe, The DIY Dreamer, Transformation Thursday, At The Picket Fence, Nifty Thrifty Sunday and Tutorials & Tips Link party.
