Just fabric gazing

Fabric Gazer: Someone who stares longingly at new fabric and is unable to cut into it…. yet!

Put up your hand if you are a fabric gazer. Hmm. . . yes, I thought there’d be quite a few of you.

Sometimes I can’t wait to jump full on into a new project and there is no hesitation with cutting and sewing. . .

. . .and then there are other times when I feel so inspired and in awe of beautiful textiles. . . I gaze at them. . . I stroke it, feel it against my cheek. . . fold and refold. . . match it up with other pretties from my stash. I call this fabric gazing - enjoying the moment. . . revelling in the pleasure of a newly found and pretty fabric.

I’ve done my fair share of fabric gazing this week, after receiving a very promptly delivered parcel from the Fat Quarter Shop

I have two specific projects in mind for this fabric, so next week I will have to stop gazing and actually cut it up. I’m sure I’ll admire it just as much after it becomes part of a beautiful project. . . but. . . then it will be all gone.

That’s okay, by then my other order of fabric from the US will have arrived and I can gaze and sew all over again.

I just have to keep muttering the mantra “There’s more where that came from”.

In between fabric gazing episodes, I did manage to complete some more work this week on my coastal chic range for the markets.

It’s been a fun colour scheme with interesting and varied textures, but I’m ready to move onto something a little more ‘Parisian’ next week.

Have a great and creative weekend everyone,
