I have to admit that prior to writing my post today there has been much pen tapping, blank screen watching and procrastination. I guess the reason for this is the subject – ME.
I feel uncomfortable talking about myself and usually blog about my creative journey. Get me talking on THAT subject, for which I am absolutely passionate, and you’ll NEVER shut me up. When it comes to sharing things about my personal life I usually hold the cards close to my chest. It’s not because I have anything to hide or exciting secrets, I just figure that you probably won’t find the daily events in my life all that interesting.
Earlier in the week I received two comments from totally different sources; one from a long standing customer and the other from a student. Both comments were innocent and well intended but both surprised me by the perception others had of ME – I thought “Gee, they really don’t know the real ME”.
This sparked a great deal of reflection (truth be told, way too much) and I did something I’ve never done before... I read back over my old blog posts. It turned out to be a pretty interesting exercise. Having a blog is akin to having a diary... albeit, one without a lock and completely open for everyone to read through – [smile].
I read with interest about my creative journey and how it has evolved and was ever changing. There were those difficult months of poor health which reminded me how supportive my blog friends had been. Then came the sea change... an exciting adventure to a new life.
Reading through the pages of my blog life up there on the computer screen I realised something else, I do keep allot of things private. I don’t talk often enough about my family or the things we like to do. I’m, hmm…. kind of unassuming, in that I rarely speak of my achievements and personal accomplishments – I’d feel uncomfortable with that too. I guess it’s just the way I am.
So, from now on I’m going to ‘try’ to disclose more of myself and perhaps more of the daily happenings here in the studio. Give you a bit more of an insight into what makes me, ME.
I think as blog readers we feel like we know people by what they write about their lives, how they live and on some level, we actually connect with like minded people. I always think of it as being a bit like speed dating. You blog hop, scan through quickly and if you see something you like, you read on. It’s not surprising I guess that so many wonderful friendships are made in blogland. It’s like being in a room full of people with the same interests, except the room just happens to be worldwide. I know I’m lucky enough to have cyber friends spread out over all the continents and now language is no barrier with Google Translate.
Anyhoo, I think that is enough about ME for one day. I’m off to finish some pretties that I want to list in my web-store next week.
Have a lovely weekend everyone,
Kerryanne
