Where do I begin?

My holiday almost feels like a distant memory now that I am back home and working hard. What a week it has been!!

First there were the computer issues - don't we all hate those!

Our business computer is 5 years old, which in computer years is probably getting old. She's a big, sturdy gal who chugs along at a slow old pace, nether-the-less, she has always been reliable. Then on Easter Monday her buddy, Penny the printer threw up her ink cartridges in disgust and said ENOUGH. No more pattern packet printing or year 10 science research projects, I'm out of here. And with that she died.

Faced with the prospect of having to get a new printer, we decided that perhaps we should do the inevitable and replace the whole system with one that was bigger and could cope with our combined family and business requirements.

So after a day comparing prices and sussing out all things computerised, we brought home our new SUPER MODEL - ELLE, and what a beauty she is. I'm totally in love with her - from her compact little tower to her large wide screen monitor. I love all her sleek, glossy blackness and lightening speed - our Elle's super fast I tell you. The new Penny printer mark 2 is not bad either; she spews out copies, scans and printing at a remarkable rate. How did we ever cope without them?

We moved the old girl into Miss Aimee's room where she will live out her days being used for computer games and net surfing. It's taken me all week, but now all 3 computers are networked and file sharing - hooray!!

In between, uploading software packages and sorting out complex technicalities of the computer type, I was also juggling studio work. I had an order to supply paintings for a local florist/gallery here in Port and it was due to be delivered by weeks end.

Here's 2 of them:

this one was painted to go on an olive/lime green wall. It looked quite striking when hung.

This one has a textured background and flowers, which of course doesn't show in the photo. I was happy with how it turned out. It has depth and tactility, which just makes you want to reach out and touch it.

To top off our week, Princess Jess had a head cold which she then gave to Miss Aimee, who subsequently got severe asthma..... resulting in a tense few days for all of us. Not surprisingly, we had a very quiet weekend at home. Like all good families, we have shared the germ and today is my turn to be red nosed and miserable looking. In an attempt to get some computer work done this morning I resorted to stuffing tissues up my nose - such a classy look I know, but it did stop the perpetual nasal dripping. Hhmm.... perhaps too much information!

Anyhoo, lots of exciting things happening now that I am dedicating all my time this week to the web business. The first of which is today's offering...
For several years now my faux cakes have been sold to stores around the world, have been used in interior design shows in the US, in exhibitions in the UK and have appeared in numerous decorator magazines as photographic props. Now the time has come to share my 'secret' faux cake recipe with YOU.

My 'secret' recipe has been developed over several years through trial and error. Once I perfected it, I kept it a highly guarded secret, as I am yet to find anyone who makes them exactly like me. There's a few similar ones but none I believe using all the same ingredients. My cakes are super light and not made of plaster.

Of course there have been many, many requests over the years to share the recipe and finally, that time has come. The recipe is now available on my
website for E-pattern download. It contains very detailed step-by-step instructions for making the basic cakes plus four variations on decorating them.
So if you have ever wanted to make your own professional looking cakes - here's your chance. I hope you enjoy the process as much as I always have. I'll still be making the occasional cakes but the time has come for me to put all my energies into another area.

There will be lots more to come this week so make sure you check back.
