Routine: (roo-teen) n.
As a course of normality, standardized actions or procedures that one follows regularly, often repetitiously.
In our fast paced society, people need organisation, predictability and routine. Personally, I love routine. I don't always have it in my life but feel safe and secure when I do.... clearly, I am not one of those 'fly by the seat of your pants' type gals!!
For most mums of school age kids, I think the school holidays signals a welcome change in routine; no lunches, school run, homework terrors etc. Hmmm... by the end of the holidays most of us are craving the return to school so we can resume our usual ROUTINE... whatever that may be.
My girls have had 3 weeks off school and while the time spent together was wonderful, it was with a certain amount of pleasure that I waved them off as they returned to school this morning. I did a bit of a happy jig as I mopped the floors and tidied the house. Then, coffee in hand, studio buddy by my side we headed off to the studio to work..... aahhhh, just like slipping on a pair of old, comfy slippers; back to my r-o-u-t-i-n-e.
My classes are also resuming this week with an extra class and 8 new students starting. It can be a bit daunting joining a new class, so I try to make it more comfortable for everyone with name tags - but not those ugly stick on labels that everyone hates. These little Matryoshka or Babushka dolls that I've made are actually place card holders. There's one at every seat so everyone know where to sit and they also get to know the names of the other students sitting around them.
For anyone who has visited my website in the past week you will have noticed there are lots of changes taking place. Early in the week I pulled most of the pattern pages down in readiness for uploading all the new goodies. I got as far as putting the 'secret' faux cupcake recipe up and had a tremendous response to that...... then things went a bit pear shaped.
An unexpected family situation has meant that I have had other priorities since Thursday. I plan to be back working on the website later this week and hope to get all the new patterns up on the site as quickly as possible. I apologise for the delay. Please be patient - hopefully I will have lots of new things to share with you very soon.
Until next time, I'll be diligently typing at the computer,
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
