Oh yeah.... today was a work day. A real work day. I think this is the first time in 6 months that I actually dropped the girls at school and worked solidly until school pick up time - it feels great!!
So what did I do?
I took a special Mother's Day order a week or so back for one of the shops I supply with my gorgeous faux cakes from the Shabby Art Boutique. My business is not actually re-open yet or taking orders but this was a special request... and... well - you know how it is.

Lots of pretty pastel pink, white & pink and soft green cupcakes for Mother's Day.
As well as the larger cupcakes there was a couple dozen mini pink cuppies with a sprinkling of diamond glitter for that added bit of pizazz!!
It has been soooo long since I baked my faux cakes I wondered if I would enjoy it. I wasn't disappointed. It is still just as much fun as ever.
My shabby cakes are not like any others you will find available. That is because they are actually baked like real cakes. The ingredients are 'top secret' and cause a lot of interest naturally. I worked on the recipe for some time to perfect it before embarking on this venture 2 years ago. I can tell you that one of the main ingredients is recycled paper that has been preserved.
My icing mixture unlike other cakes is not plaster based. I worked with a chemist to come up with an icing that resembles and can be worked with like real icing, but my cakes contain no food ingredients at all. This process makes cakes that are very light weight so cheap to post. I'm sorry that I can't tell you more but my shabby faux cakes are covered by copyright, as is my 'top secret' recipe.
Today was a welcome change of pace but tomorrow it is back to my Christmas projects. Perhaps I'll give you a sneak peek next week. Do you think you can cope with Christmas in April? I can't believe it either!!
