Inhale the aroma!! Aaahhhhh.... there's simply nothing like it.
Connoisseurs of fine coffee will tell you it all starts with the premium blend of roasted coffee beans.
Sometimes you don't realize how much you miss something until it is gone. After 7 weeks without a 'real' coffee, the desire was strong. So, my hubby took me for a little outing to a local cafe this morning so I could indulge in a delectable Cafe Latte....mmmmmm.

With a Latte under my belt I was almost beginning to feel human again.....yippee. After lunch hubby suggested I try another little outing just to get me in the swing of it again. Nothing too adventurous but it was still strangely invigorating. So where do you suppose he took me?
Hands up if you are an Aussie and you love Bunnings.......Okay, that's most of us - right!!! Looking at Bunnings from a whole new perspective, I have to say they are very wheelchair friendly. Lots of ramps and wide isles, low benches at the check out. Hhmmm..... what more could a gal ask for on a Sunday afternoon??
And this is what I got - herbs.

Now that I am confined to only one level of our house, I can no longer access my backyard or herb garden.
Solution......
Start a new herb garden in pots on the front veranda. This area gets lots of sun and I can get to it on my own. I have always enjoyed gardening but have not been able to tend to mine for about 6 months and am unlikely to be able to do so again until later this year. So, now I can have my little kitchen garden on the front veranda, where I can harvest herbs as I need them. There are always positive solutions if you think outside the square.
On a quick visit around blogland today I discovered that Kris from Tag Along Teddies has a visitor in her back yard. This made me recall an episode in our family life.
It is a story about a reptile named Trevor.

In telling this story, I have to admit to not being a big fan of reptiles. It is amazing what guilt can make you do!!!
Our adventures with our Blue Tongue Lizard named Trevor started when his mother had the misfortune to lay sun baking on our driveway on a hot and sunny afternoon ..... right about the time I was dashing out in the car to do kinder pick up.
I'll spare you the details, but lets just say that on my return I had to perform a reptilian burial and ceremony of sorts for my distressed children. Later that afternoon we discovered a very small blue tongue lizard wandering around our yard. Naturally, my children deducted that this was the offspring of the defenseless mother lizard I had murdered earlier in the afternoon....uugghh!!
I'm not sure if it was purely guilt or maternal instincts that made me take care of this little fellow, but nurture him I did - even to the point of picking him up with my bare hands so my children could pat him. Believe me, I'd much rather have had my gardening gloves on...eekkkk...reptile skin!!!
So Trevor, or Trev as we affectionately called him, thrived with this special attention and grew into a decent sized Blue Tongue. He lived in our yard for many years eating the slugs and snails. It was only after he disappeared that I realised what an effective pest controller he had been.
Who knows what became of 'our Trev'? I hope he met a lovely Mrs Blue Tongue and eloped to greener pastures.
Hugs,
Kerryanne
