Wow....where did that week go???
They may say that time flies when you are having fun but believe me, cleaning the studio WAS NOT FUN!!!!
But I did survive the 'Non-spring Clean'......thanks Shann for offering to come rescue me. Finally the rubber gloves are off, the bins emptied and the studio space cleaned. It took me the entire week and I feel relieved to be able to work in a clean and tidy workspace again. I've chased away the dozens of resident Dandy Long Leg spiders, pulled down their cob webs, vacuumed up dust and debris, found homes for all the mysterious piles of 'stuff' and washed and sanitized all surfaces. I even recovered my workbench in new plastic. The big job was getting rid of the carpet - you might remember a previous post about the saga of the spilt gesso. I couldn't live with it anymore so removed the offending carpet. I think hard floors area a better option for an art room - you can bet that I will never spill paint again now that I have a washable surface under foot!!
What started as a clean up became a huge clean and cull task. I've decided that I have way too much stuff so this week I am going to have a huge sale - it all must go. I just need to photograph and list everything on the website so keep an eye out mid week for my BIG SALE.
Now I can get down to the task of actually creating.

So, on to other things. As all parents of school age children here in Melbourne are well aware, today is the first day of school holidays. Half way into day one and already my children have 'feral' written all over their faces. The weather outside is cold and windy so sending them outside is not really an option. The phone has been tied up all morning and the kitchen is full of dishes - which prompts me to ask...'how do they make so many dishes?'.
Could be a long two weeks. Honestly, I do like my children - most of the time. If only they could be nice to each other, not fight, not make so much mess, and the noise....oh the noise. Did I mention we bought Aimee bongo drums for her birthday?
Not to worry.......I have a new option for punishment.
The naughty corner should be fun.......for me, that is....heheheh.

The postman delivered two parcels last week - wasn't I lucky. The second parcel was my swap gift from my exchange partner Kelli from Vintage Vavoom, in Shannon's Parasol and Paper Swap. I have already thanked Kelli for her beautiful gift.
Here is a snap of all my goodies. Beautiful scrapbooking papers, wallpaper and pretty flowers. A mixed media parasol canvas that will look beautiful in my mauve and green studio plus the most delightful parasol ladies tea towels.

Here's a close up of the gorgeous tea towels. The frill is sewn onto the parasol and dress.

Thanks again Kelli. It is all beautiful.
