While looking for some vintage papers last week I came across this beautiful old postcard I purchased on one of my treasure hunting exhibitions. It was from a shop that had an extensive range of old postcards, music manuscripts and old letters. I remember spending ages reading through the piles of yellowed letters and marveling at the penmanship of a bygone era.
The card is dated 28th December 1910. When I purchased the postcard I was interested in the front of it which I intended to use in a scrapbook layout but on rediscovering it this week I was more taken with the content of the letter.
The author tells of a holiday in Hepburn Springs (here in Melbourne) where they traveled around in drays for 6p each way and were planning another day trip in a 'motorcar'.
For me this postcard conjured up a vision of beautiful women in their lovely long dresses, hats and gloves visiting the sights of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs in the heat of our summer. Almost like the movie 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' which is an Aussie icon movie.
Sometimes I wish that I lived back in that Edwardian era when women were ladies and treated as such. Of course those days were tough and women didn't always live a long life but it is nice just to imagine the lovely part of that era.
Here's a couple of quick snaps of today's work - specialty cakes.

Have a great weekend,
Hugs,
Kerryanne
