What can I say about Port Macquarie, New South Wales. It really is my little bit of heaven on Earth. My extended family all live there so it has been my annual haunt for 40 years. I know it well and it feels like my home away from home. Hubby has come to love it as much as me and now our children enjoy the coastal delights too.
This year we were all sooooo burnt out before we went on holidays that we decided we needed a completely unplanned itinerary. I can honestly say that we did nothing more than walk on the beach, swim, surf, lay in the sun, read and EAT - oh and we did heaps of that!!!!!
Each morning I went on my beach walk as I have always done but this year I was severely hampered by the pinched nerve in my back. Yuk.....but what's a bit of pain when you can walk at sunrise with this beautiful view as the backdrop. The mouth of the river is known for its dolphins and I was thrilled to see several on my walks. But most of our time was spent on the beach or by the pool.
It is hard to pick a favourite time of day at the beach: I love the sunrise over the ocean; surfing in the morning; and beach combing in the arvo.
At Flynn's Beach late in the afternoons the tide is out and you are left with these incredible rock pools. The girls and I spent most afternoons wading through the pools, collecting pretty shells and watching the sea life. Needless to say, we have bought back a small portion of the Port eco system with us......hope they can spare it!!!

Jess had a lovely break too and it's lovely to see her smiling here. Her health issues still persist but if she has to be sick, she may as well be lying on the beach in the sun than in her bed at home.
Now it is back to reality.......... the business re-opens on Tuesday and already there are lots of orders waiting to be filled. I purposely didn't take any sketch pads or art supplies with me on holidays so I had an enforced break.......sewing doesn't count and I did manage to keep my hands busy with a little project for myself.
