After a busy morning running around doing school drop off and picking up supplies I decided to take my morning coffee break this morning in a sunny spot in the garden. I had with me 2 mags which I purchased last week but hadn't had time to even flick through yet.

To my surprise, there was my ugly mug staring back at me in this months issue of Australian Decorative Painting. I did the interview quite some time ago but you never know when these editorials will be printed......so there I was in my favorite spot in the garden reading about my artistic journey. I think I am pretty boring so I quickly moved on to my Country Home Ideas magazine.
For a change of pace this past week I got out my fabric supplies and needles and cotton and whipped up this gorgeous table cloth and napkin set for my Sister-in-laws birthday. My brother and his family live overseas in Dubai so I have to always be mindful of weight for posting. I knew this little project would be light and easy to package.
It's been ages since I have done any hand sewing and I had forgotten just how much I really enjoy it. Not only is hand sewing very relaxing but it is convenient too - no need to set up paint palettes or change your clothes, just pull it out of the bag for 10 minutes or half hour and then pack it away again. When it was finished I didn't want to part with it so have decided to make this one of my projects to take on holidays with me in 2 weeks. Usually when I am on my beach holiday I like to sketch or paint but this year I am going to sew........just for me!!
